Better Golf Swing - The Mental Part Of Golf

By Benjamin R. Ehinger

Are you after a better golf swing, but you have no idea how to get there? You are just like many golfers looking for a better way to play golf and more enjoyment out of every round of golf. If you want to improve your golf swing, then keep reading.

The mental side of golf is probably the most important part of golf. Golf is about 90% mental. If you step up to the ball with a bad shot in mind, then you will hit a bad shot. If you step up to a shot and you are afraid of putting it in the trees on the right, then you will probably end up in the trees on the right.

You have to learn how to picture the perfect shot. The golf swing will come naturally and you will hit better shots once you fix the mental part of your golf game. You have to learn how to concentrate on the shot and the task at hand. You cannot be worried about what you did with the last shot or the last hole or how you hit the club you are getting ready to hit the last time you hit it.

You have to get control of your mental golf game in order to have a better golf swing. You have to be able to block out vehicles passing by, other golfers talking, bugs making noise, and any other noise that might happen in your back swing or during your set up. This is very important and you just have to continually practice in order to get this down. Some golfers will go to a crowded range and practice as if they were on the course while blocking out all the conversations and other golfers on the range. This is great mental practice.

You are controlled by your last most dominate thought 99% of the time. If you think it, typically, you will try to make it happen. So if you walk up to the tee box and you are thinking about slicing the ball, then you will most likely slice the ball. You have to put all your fears aside, all your negative thoughts aside, and think of the perfect shot. If a negative shot sneaks into your head, then step away and reapproach the ball.

So, in order to gain a better golf swing you will need to work on your mental golf game. The mental side of golf is far more important than the physical side of golf so practice on a crowded range and teach yourself how to picture the perfect shot every single time you step up to the ball.

Hints About Weighted Golf training Club

The grip most certainly will influence the clubhead, but any type of grip that will keep the wrists from opening or closing the blade is a good grip regardless of how the hands grip the club. Whatever grip is chosen the thumbs should be on top. The thumbs are the feelers and being on top one can feel if the blade is square. Any stroke that holes the ball consistently is a good putting stroke. Regardless of the style of the stroke the putter head should never be taken to the outside of the target line on the backswing.

Golf Training Aids - Teaching Your Kids Golf

By: Terry Edwards

More and more children than at any time before are wanting to learn how to play golf. Why? Tiger Woods may have something to do with that. He has popularized the game of golf among children of all ages.

It seems that kids are finding out what the adults already know: golf is a lot of fun! As your children may enjoy banging out golf balls with one of your golf clubs, where do you start in developing their skills? Here are some helpful golf training aids in giving your child a head start in learning to play golf.

Get Them In A Class
One of the most important things you can do for your child is to enroll them in a golf class. Let the professionals teach them the right golf teaching tools. Many local golf courses have golf instructional classes just for kids. There is also no need to rush out and purchase a set of golf clubs for your child. The class will provide the golf clubs for them. Not only will you save some money right now, but it will give you time to find out if your child truly enjoys the game of golf or not. The last thing you want to do is go out and spend a few hundred dollars on golf clubs only to find out later that your child doesn't like golf after all.

Be Patient
This tip is an important one for both you and your child. Have patience with your child. It's so easy to want to see your child start pounding long bombs like John Daly and sinking 30 foot putts. For them to enjoy golf and want to continue learning the game they need your support. Let them progress at their own rate. The golf classes will do a world of good in helping to develop their own skills.

Encouragement
While your out hitting golf balls on the driving range, be sure and give your child a lot of encouragement, even if they are spraying balls all over the range. They will pick up the finer points of the game later as they grow older. Take a moment and think about how it was for you when you first started out.

After your child has taken some classes and shows a real interest in the game of golf, then go ahead and get them there own set of golf clubs. Gave your child fitted properly. Of course, since they will be continually growing in height and weight, understand that the clubs you buy today may be too small within a year or two at the most.

Have Fun
Take the time that you spend golfing with your children as a time of bonding. Enjoy yourselves and the time you're out on the course. Use this time to develop good communication with your child. Talk about other issues going on other than golf. You'll be surprised at how the golf course can help you and your children bond together. It will spill over into other areas of their lives as well.

<p>While some were sympathising with Sandy Lyle's decision to throw in the towel after just 10 holes of the first round here yesterday, others were not being quite so understanding. As Peter Dawson, the chief executive of the Royal and Ancient, intimated, it is one of golf's unwritten rules &ndash; you do not quit. Not in a major, not when there is nothing wrong with you, not when an alternate is standing by, desperate for a berth. "It is disappointing," said Dawson. Learn How To Swing A Golf Club The Right Way

Just about everyone who takes up golf begins to look for information on how to swing a golf club at some time or another. And it's perfectly understandable, since swinging a golf club is so vital to scoring well in the game of golf. Each and every person tries to find the perfect golf swing for him or her.

And for some people, learning how to swing a golf club and swinging it well becomes a very simple task. For others it becomes a very difficult task, finding it difficult to understand how you can keep your arms "straight" and still feel natural, swinging a golf club and driving the ball any distance at all. Anything sound familiar here?

The golf swing can be broken down into various sections. There is the backswing, the downswing, the impact and the follow-through. Each of these can and has been analyzed to try and find the perfect swing for each and every golfer. But then, there is also such a thing as a pre-shot routine, that's the sequence of events you go through before each and every swing. The really professional golfers do the exact same thing before each and every shot. They have their pre-shot routine down to a science and they follow it religiously. Quite often, the budding golfer or even the longtime duffer will continuously change their pre-shot routine almost daily looking for just that little extra secret or edge. Instead, they only succeed in messing up their golf swing and the whole thing starts all over again.

Of course, for some people it still becomes very difficult to learn how to swing a golf club properly. Fortunately for us today we have videos. We have videos of modern-day golfers like Tiger Woods or Ernie Els and we have video images of Jack Nicholas, Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan and Bobby Jones. We can actually sit and watch exactly how they swing a golf club and try to emulate it.

But simply watching golf videos may not be enough. In fact, for most people there is still the need to be shown the proper way to swing a golf club. Golf lessons are an invaluable tool. Proper instructions will show you how to hold your hands in the proper grip, the proper stance and set up as well as how each and every section of the golf swing should work. Golf videos can then help you to SEE how it all goes together. And if he can't afford golf lessons, or perhaps only one or two, then instruction books can be an invaluable tool. You can read how to perform each and every part of the golf swing and then again used golf videos to see how it all goes together. An example of a great instructional e-book is Gene Littler's "Master The Golf Swing". Littler won 29 PGA Tour events and had an incredibly beautiful swing.

If you do want to improve your game and learn how to swing a golf club properly, you would do well to use the available golf videos and other available help like golf lessons or golfing eBooks. Improving your abilties in the golf swing will do a lot to not only improve your game, but you will enjoy it a whole lot more. So, you can continue to drive your shots every which way and suffer or spend your money wisely and really learn how to swing a golf club properly. The decision is up to you.

Hints About Clone Golf Club

This is a very common problem for golfers and it's an awkward adjustment. The solution is very simple, however. Instead of setting your driver behind the ball such that the center of the face is aligned with the ball, move backwards a couple of inches (towards your back) such that the toe of your driver is aligned with the ball. Now do the test again. Stretch out your arms and pick the club up to the ball's height. Is the ball aligned with the center of the driver face? If so, put the club back down and fire! If not, keep moving back until it is.

Playing The Game
Mechanical thoughts, especially during the backswing, have no place on the golf course. Swing issues and technical moves should be worked out on the practice range. On the course, focus on positive downswing thoughts like accelerate through impact and finish with the right shoulder toward the target. Avoid negative thoughts by visualizing the ballflight you're trying to produce, and swing with that image in mind. A consistent preshot routine helps.

How To Swing A Golf Club Like A Pro

One of the first things everyone wants to know when they first take up golf is how to swing a golf club. And this is obviously a natural thing to know since...well, golf is played by swinging at a ball with a golf club! And so a great golf swing can mean a great game. Learning the perfect golf swing becomes a high priority.

For some beginners, learning how to swing a golf club is not a difficult task. Many people who have played baseball and become accomplished at it, can find it very easy to to transfer a baseball swing down to a golf swing. For others, learning how to swing a standard golf club becomes a seemingly monumental task. There seems to be so much to remember that they become overwhelmed.

No matter how you swing a golf club, the golf swing can be broken down into individual components. You have the backswing, the downswing, the impact of the club with the ball and the follow-through after the impact. Each and every one of these has to be done in a specific way for the shot to be successful. Many people struggle with fitting them all together smoothly. And then many people forget about the pre-shot routine, another aspect of the golf swing that is highly neglected. Take a look at all of your professional PGA golfers and you will see that they have a consistent and usually very brief pre-shot routine. Then visit your local golf course and watch the long drawn out affairs so many people engage in before they hit a golf ball. And if you watch long enough you'll actually see that most people never do the same thing twice. Unlike the golf professional, the duffer has a varied pre-shot routine both in time and method. Neglecting any aspect of your golf swing is a sure fire way to higher scores.

One of the greatest tools we have today to learn how to swing a golf club properly is the golf video. No, I'm not talking about ones you buy from a store on the DVD. You can do that if you want. But the amazing thing today is that the Internet will provide you with videos on the golf swing of just about anybody you can name today. Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh or Arnold Palmer of yesterday. Golf legends like Jack Nicklaus or Walter Hagan, golf swing specialists like Ben Hogan or Bobby Jones. All of them are available for you to to study. And most of them are available without cost.

And if you add in a few golf lessons and use the videos to piece it all together, you can improve your golf swing and your golf game amazingly fast. And if you can't afford a few golf lessons, you can always use the valuable golf books that are available to give you the gist of the golf swing and then use the videos to help you put it all together. Each and every golf pro can become like your personal tutor. One of the best golf e-books I've ever seen is one put out by Gene Littler. Littler won 29 PGA Tour events and had an incredibly beautiful swing. His swing is another one you can see on videos on the Internet- it has been termed one of the best ever by his contemporaries. Today Gene is helping people learn his golf swing by electronically publishing "Master The Golf Swing".

There are a number of holes that must be played in a given order and a round of golf usually consists of eighteen holes that have to be played in an order as determined by the layout of the course. A nine-hole course would mean playing two successive nine-hole rounds. By playing the ball from a teeing box the player needs to put the ball into a hole in the green that is an area of finely cut grass. Stroking the ball into the hole is known as putting with the ball being hit along the ground. The idea is to rest the ball into the hole in as few strokes as possible in order to win the hole and there are many hazards along the way to contend with such as bunkers and water hazards.

How To Swing A Golf Club Properly

It's important to remember that the basic golf swing can be broken down into individual sections. You have the backswing, you have the downswing, there is the impact moment and there is the follow through of the shot. Some people can put together all of these various components very easily. Others have to study each and every section and work hard to put it all together into one fluid motion. Then there is a factor of the pre-shot routine. Some people have a tendency to dally over the ball, take a few swings, back away, get set up again and then go through the whole routine a different way on each and every shot. And then they wonder why they have no consistency. accomplished golfers and PGA professionals in specific, have very set pre-shot routines that they do exactly the same way on every shot. And their pre-shot routine's are usually very quick and not at all a long drawn out affair that you see Sunday golfers engage in.

And whether you are just taking up golf, or been playing for some time, you should be aware that you have a tremendous tool to improve your golf swing in your golf game. I'm talking about the videos we can all watch today of golf professionals and how they play. And amazingly we also have on demand videos on the Internet that are absolutely free of great golfers like Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh or John Daly or past greats like Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Sam Snead, Walter Hagan or Gene Sarazen. Imagine being able to sit and watch how golfers, credited with having great golf swings, perform the task. Talk about a golden opportunity to learn.

Combining free videos from the internet with a few wisely spent dollars on the proper golf knowledge will do wonders for your golf swing and your game. Ignoring the wise path to success will only see you continue to drive the ball left and right instead of straight down the fairway. The decision is all up to you.

Tips About Golf training Aid

Putting Tip
Wanna be a good putter? Here are some basic fundamentals you should be practicing.
--Get a putter with a very distinct line marked on it to indicate the target line and practice with a chalk line. You can get a chalk line at any hardware store for 5 or 6 bucks, and it's as valuable a training aid as there is anywhere. Find a putt on the practice green that is straight. Snap a chalk line down from about 5 or 6 feet to the middle of the cup. Make sure that the entire length of the line on your putter is exactly on the chalk line. Start making putts. This will train your eyes to "see square" precisely.
--Keep your the pressure in your hands soft and constant throughout the stroke. Sensitivity is obviously a huge part of putting. If your hands are tight on the grip you are diminishing your sensitivity - period. Also, if your grip pressure changes during the stroke, it's probably not "a stroke" but more likely a jab, flinch, spasm, push, hit ... well, you get the point -- good luck with that kind of technique.
--There is no independent action in the hands. Nothing could be more logical: If you do indeed have the putter face aligned precisely, as in the first point above, the last thing you'd want to do is to change the position of the face. Therefore, your hands should not be moving independently of your arms and shoulders. To see if your hands are moving, as a drill try watching your hands very carefully (instead of the ball) a few times. You'll see what your hands are doing quite easily.
There are many more (seemingly endless) details about putting, of course, but if you turn these fundamental concepts into habits it will take you a long way toward being a consistently good putter

There is a greater variety of putters on the market than any other piece of golf equipment. So choosing the right one can be difficult. There's only one foolproof way to do it: Try as many different putters as you can get your hands on. It's all about feel. But there are some things to consider about different putter features that can help narrow the field.

How To Determine If Your Golf Swing Is Too Fast

By: Gregg Hall

The whole point to practicing at getting a better golf swing is trying to make your swing faster. Most tips only show you how you should hold your club. Many people think that the harder you swing a golf club the further it will go. Yeah you can probably hit it far and hard but it will not be going to where you wanted the ball to go. If you are going to just hit the ball then you are not going to place it where you want it to go.

The way that you will make your swing all sloppy is by swinging too fast. There are many ways that one can find out how they swing and if they swing too fast. If your golf ball is going a certain way every time you hit it you are probably swinging too fast. If your ball is curving each time that you hit it then that is a sign that you are hitting the ball way too hard. If you loose grip of the club then that is another sign that you are swinging too fast and need to slow it down. If you lose balance then you are going to need to slow your swing down because that is another sign that you are swinging your club too fast.

If you don't know what the problem is then you cannot fix it so you need to watch and feel how you swing. After you have your swing under control you can start playing the game and start swinging the clubs. You can fix an over swing by counting and seeing how long it takes you to swing. There are many ways to see and fix ones swing but you can only fix it through practice and more practice. The more practice that you do the better you will get at swinging your clubs. You will just need to take your time remember you are golfing you have all the time in the world. You won't want to hit the ball as hard as you can because that again will be making you swing to fast.

So you just want to take it nice and easy for a few swings until you get the swinging process down. After you have the swing down then you can go golf with friends or just go to the driven range and just practice on swinging. You should get your swing down by the first day you start playing the sport. If you hadn't its not like it's the end of the world you can still play golf just keep practicing. You just need to go to the driving range every once and a while and hit a few balls to get your swing down and make sure that you keep it like that for awhile.

To learn how variations of the grip affect ball flight. Experiment with slight variations of your grip. Observe how the changes affect the flight of the ball. A weak grip encourages a slice or fade. You cant fire a gun unless you pull the trigger, right? A similar concept also applies to the golf swing, which also usually requires a trigger move to get the body moving. Now, not everyone has a trigger, some manage to swing well from a static position to a dynamic position. But for the rest of us who often find confusion when it comes to where to start the golf swing, a trigger move can help you start swinging in a fluid and consistent manner.

How To Swing A Golf Club - Mission impossible?

With swinging a golf club so vital to playing a great game of golf, just about everyone eventually looks for information or lessons on how to swing a golf club. For many it becomes a quest like the Holy Grail, finding the perfect golf swing.

Of course, videos are often not enough and golf lesson can be a tremendous benefit. Taking lessons from a golf professional and then watching how everything is implemented by the touring professionals can take your game a long way. Of course, not everyone can afford golf lessons, or at least not more than one or two. in that case, you can add something like an e-book that you can use to study and apply with your lessons and your videos. A book that has been highly recommended is one by golf Hall of Fame legend Gene Littler. He was nicknamed "Gene the Machine" due to his smooth rhythmical swing. Littler believed that, "Golf is not a game of great shots. It's a game of the most misses. The people who win make the smallest mistakes." A great philosophy and obviously the kind of teacher to help improve a golf swing and golf game.

Combining free videos from the internet with a few wisely spent dollars on the proper golf knowledge will do wonders for your golf swing and your game. Ignoring the wise path to success will only see you continue to drive the ball left and right instead of straight down the fairway. The decision is all up to you.

Hints On Hybrid Golf Clubs

Level Legs
The lack of traction in bunkers forces the legs to function differently than they do on full shotsthey must maintain their flex during the entire swing instead of posting up through impact. This will keep you nice and level through the shot.

Keep Your Hands Low
Limiting the height of the followthrough will effectively reduce the height of your shots. The lower the hands, the lower the ballflight. Moving the ball back in your stance or choosing a stronger club and trying to swing easy are other ways to accomplish the same thing, but they're less reliable and more difficult to execute. Instead, keep your hands low in the finish (compare the two photos at right), and the trajectory of your shots will be lower.
